Disk space is the amount of space your hosting account is entitled to use on our servers, and comprises of your website, email accounts, ftp space, logfiles, statistics, and temporary files.

Bandwidth is the amount of data being transferred to and from your website, including downloads and uploads. It also includes email usage through IMAP or POP.

The figures below are monthly bandwidth quotas. If required, you can upgrade your package to include additional bandwidth.

Email accounts are essential communication tools for every business. With PurplePaw you have 24/7 access to your email, as well as having the option to use POP3 or IMAP.

Email Aliases allow you to have several email addresses for one email account, making it much easier than managing multiple email accounts at the same time. For example, you may have your questions, info and tech all going to support@yourcompany.com.

FTP accounts are required to upload files to your website quickly and securely. You can create FTP accounts for specific folders, giving your customer quick access to your files. FTP accounts can be created in seconds using our control panel.

Sub-domains allow you to separate your website into different sections while keeping the names easy to remember. For example, you may set up support.yourcompany.com as well as billing.yourcompany.com, each leading to different webpages.

Our servers are backed up on a nightly basis. This includes all of your hosting account (webpages, email etc.), so in the event of any problems, accounts can be quickly restored. Also, through the control panel, you can create and download your own backups. These can also be easily restored by yourself.

See how many people are visiting your site, where they come from, what search keywords they use to find you and more. The amount of detail that can be gained from these packages is amazing, and this allows you to monitor marketing, referrals and so on.

Some people prefer to use this online based File Manager rather than an FTP program. Our File Manager is integrated into the control panel and allows you to upload, download, create, delete and edit files/directories. A nice alternative to using FTP.

Authenticated SMTP allows one mail server to indicate to another that the sender has been authenticated when relaying mail.

A useful email protocol that allows you to download just the subject lines from emails, and then decide if you wish to receive the rest of the email. If you collect email via your laptop, PDA or mobile phone this may be beneficial.

Giving you the flexibility to check and send emails via the internet rather than an email client such as Outlook. There is currently a choice of three Webmail packages available to choose from. Ideal for email users who are on the move or need to be able to check their email from different PC's.

Set up blocks on particular email addresses, certain domains, emails containing your chosen unwanted keywords. This is another level of protection from SPAM email and can be very useful.

Redirects is a useful feature to allow you to point a web address to another server. For example, if you would like to link to a remotely hosted forum, you could set up yourdomain.com/forum to point to this server.

As well as integrated stat viewing packages we provide access to the raw server log files is if you wish to conduct your own analysis.

Replace the standard uninformative error responses of your website with a customised page of your choice. Encourages visitors to stay on your site when an error occurs. For instance, if there is a bad link in your website and a visitor goes to this link, you could customise the error page with your websites identity and a link back to your home page.

Quota reports show the detail of the disk space and bandwidth usage for your hosting account.

PHP is a computer programming language originally designed for producing dynamic web pages. PHP is used mainly in server-side scripting.

phpMyAdmin is an online interface used to administer and manage all aspects of your MySQL databases. This is accessed via the control panel.

Perl is a simple programming language. When it's used on the web the programs are called Perl CGI, because CGI is the way that Perl talks to your web browser. Perl can be used to do things like rotate banners, generate text & HTML or provide shopping carts.

SSI is a simple server-side scripting language used to paste the contents of one or more files into another.

All email, including attachments, is scanned for viruses. On detection the virus is deleted, and both sender and recipient notified.

There are a number of levels of protection that are in place, or you can add to reduce the amount of SPAM email that you receive. Email blocking and filtering can be set up, there is a level of control at server level and also you can configure further filters via a separate SPAM filter package through your control panel. This allows you to reject SPAM, or redirect it into a separate inbox based on your own rules.

Auto-Installing Scripts give you the ability to install a variety of programs just by using a third party script.

A facility to prevent external websites linking from their website to your images and files. This can help reduce bandwidth and resource use. You can enable this protection on any file type and specify the domains that you wish to allow access.

Restrict access to any directory within your web site. If a visitor goes to your protected area, they will be prompted for a username and password. You can configure as many usernames and passwords as required. Applications include sites where membership is required to view certain content or development areas that you wish to restrict to authorised parties.

Our Resellers are entitled to a FREE primary .com, .net, or .co.uk domain name on which their reseller account will be based. If the reseller has an existing domain name they want to transfer in, we won't charge anything, and whether you use a new domain or transfer in an existing one, PurplePaw will renew your domain as needed at no charge.

Resellers have access to their own Web Host Manager account, which is the same system that we use to create and manage our shared hosting accounts. From within WHM Resellers can create and configure their own packages, DNS records, client accounts, view bandwidth and disk space usage, and much more. All individual sites that are managed within WHM receive their own Control Panel so end-users can manage their own accounts, but it is entirely up to the Reseller if they want to give their clients access to cPanel.

Resellers receive priority support from our Technical Support & Customer Service departments, so that you can get back to your customers promptly regarding their accounts.

Every reseller account on our system is configured with unique nameservers and IP addresses. This allows resellers to use ns1.resellerdomain.com and ns2.resellerdomain.com nameservers, which provides a professional image, and prevents reseller customers from using PurplePaw nameservers.

Resellers have the ability to re-brand the Control Panel interface used by their customers, for example to include the Reseller's company logo, contact details, or colour scheme. Branding is also referred to as modifying the theme or skin of an interface.

PurplePaw can provide resellers with custom 0845 dial-up account for the reseller to give out to their customers, using our dialup service. We can give the reseller a custom username and password, such as resellercompanyname / free0845. While this service doesn't generate any revenue, it gives Resellers an extra service to provide to their clients at no cost, and is a great way to promote the resellers company.

Please note that unlike other features, 0845 accounts are not provided automatically during signup, and need to be requested if needed by the reseller.

Our web hosting packages all include a very easy to use and powerful control panel. By using the control panel you have complete control of your webspace and email facilities.

Our helpdesk system has been developed and integrated with our working methods to ensure quick delivery of resolutions to any problem you have. The helpdesk is monitored 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. In addition to responding promptly quickly, we aim to resolve all problems swiftly and with the minimum of fuss. In addition, we try to make as much information as possible available on our support site, which contains our Knowledgebase, Tutorials, Announcements, Downloads and much more which clients can access at any time.

When signing up for a new account, accounts are usually automatically activated on our servers within 15 minutes. Automatic activation is subject to fraud screening, and signups from certain countries are placed on hold pending manual approval.

Our servers are regularly updated by with security patches and updates to ensure that they are as secure as possible. We only use high quality data centres, and the best connectivity to ensure that visitors across the World will have a fast connection to your website

The network infrastructure has been designed to eliminate single points of failure and consist of multiple fiber connections. Each fiber line has a different entry point into the buildings so that in the event that one of the entry points fails, there are still lines in-tact. Power supplies to our facilities are backed up by UPS systems (Uninterruptible Power Supplies), which are backed up in turn by diesel generators.

PurplePaw run Distributed DNS Servers, which mean all of the DNS Zones for our clients domain names are hosted on at least two physical servers, and normally those servers are located in different Data Centers. This configuration enhances the stability of your domain on the Internet, and ensures that everyone can find your site at any time.

On a weekly basis all of our nightly backups are backed up again to servers in a different datacenter, so that in the unlikely event of a problem in the primary data center we can still recover and restore client's data quickly to a new server.

All PurplePaw servers are monitored 24/7 from a 3rd party network, and in the unlikely event that a service (such as the web service or email service) or server become unavailable, our engineers are paged immediately so that we can investigate and resolve any problems as quickly and efficiently as possible.
