On this page, we detail certain points of information that may be of interest
to you. Of course, as always, if you have any questions please get in touch.

PurplePaw strive to provide top quality support with quick response. Our helpdesk system
has been developed and integrated with our working methods to ensure quick delivery of
resolutions to any problem you have. The helpdesk is monitored 24 hours a day, 365 days a
week. We will not only respond to your query quickly, we will also resolve your problem
swiftly and with the minimum of fuss. Our staff are highly trained and qualified to handle
all areas of our business.
Server Hardware
PurplePaw use high quality, industrial strength web server equipment for performance
and reliability. We have close relationships with a number of international
hardware manufacturers/suppliers. Servers have a MINIMUM of PIII 1GHz processors,
1GB of memory with storage spread across multiple hard disk drives. Because our hardware includes
only the best quality equipment, this enables us to provide a top performing
and flexible web hosting service to our diverse range of clients.
Server Software
We run Unix/Linux based servers. Installations include the Apache web
server, PHP, cPanel, and mySQL database
server. All software is regularly updated to ensure high levels of security and availability.
Data Centre's
PurplePaw currently utilise the services of a number of a data centre's across the World. These include RedBus in
London (UK), Telehouse in London (UK), Hurricane Electric in California (USA), NAC in New Jersey (USA) and GNAX in
Georgia (USA). These locations have been carefully selected by PurplePaw, and chosen as they offer superior
network infrastructure, connectivity and excellent on site support.
These locations offer connections directly to most of the major networks
including Sprint, UUNET, Cable & Wireless (formerly MCI), PSI, Global
Center, Savvis, AOL, Exodus, Telecomplete, Level3 and many, many others which vary from location to location.
Data centre standard facilities include fire suppression systems (Very Early Smoke Detection Alarms),
personnel ID system and security including video surveillance and recording, raised flooring, hot/cold spares, state of the
art monitoring, air conditioning, redundant power supplies, generators and so on.
Network
You can rest assured that you're hosting will be on a reliable
network. Our networks consist of multiple lines into major
backbone providers. The lines are running Border Gateway Routing
Protocol (BGP) to ensure that your traffic is always taking the
fastest route. In the event that one of the lines goes down, our
system will load balance the traffic to the remaining lines. This
helps ensure that the connection to your server is lightning quick,
and always up.
Network Peering
Having direct connection to backbones, and then connecting to major
peering points, dialup providers, and cable modem carriers, ensures
high speed transfers all the time. By having connections to only
the major providers such as Level3 and MCI/Worldcom, we then have
the shortest hops/routes possible to international providers such as
AOL and local/regional ISP's. These all
link with the Backbones we have chosen. As times goes by, we will
be looking for even more Major Carriers to link up with to ensure
even more redundancy and quicker routes your local ISP's
Redundancy
Our networks currently consist of multiple fiber connections. Each
fiber line has a different entry point into the buildings so that
in the event that one of the entry points fails, there are still
lines in-tact. Power supplies to our facilities are backed up by UPS systems
(Uninterruptible Power Supplies) and following that, generators.
These factors combined
result in one of the best performing and most reliable web hosting
services available.
